Heresy: Sleep Tight
I do like a nice surprise every now and again. From the utterly
uninspiring band bio and equally tedious local band picture, I was
hardly expecting anything of merit. But fuck me sideways with a not
too ripe aubergine if I had haven't had my smug little preconceptions
DESTROYED by the music on this CD. The sound is just…filthy. Dirt.
Pubic toilets. The smell of piss stained elevators in council flats.
Let's call it grime-core. And HOLY FUCK the music, at least on "Sleep
Tight", is like a skuzzier Girls Against Boys, all repressed sexual
neurosis, barely disguised hate and Mars Volta-esque prog-rock
contortions. Indeed, I like surprises.

Hallelujah Johnson - 33.3 Per Minute
Hallelujah Johnson make music for 16 year old boys who think life
begins and ends with Playstation 2, MTV, baggy arsed trousers and who
think Avril Lavigne is a good looking
woman/girl/boy/bull-dyke/whatever. In short, Halleljah Johnson look
like they're about to clean up. "Huggy Bear" is cool cut'n'paste
rap-rock angst while "Here Today" swings harder then a pair of
elephant's testicles and has a chorus the size of Mount Fuji that
Linken Park would trade what remains of their negligible soul for.
Fucking great.

Hush Collector
When you put a CD in and you don’t know what style of music you are about to hear and you know nothing apart from the CD artwork it is always nice to have a guess what you may soon listen to. Hush Collector gave nothing away from their artwork and it is immediately obvious that this is a very good recording/ production. “Drifting melancholy collides with haunting melody” is a very good self description.
The harmonies are really nice to listen to and if I had more time I think I would sit back, close my eyes and enjoy their CD even more. Certainly worth looking out for these guys.
