Along Way Home > rock/pop punk > Recourd ScoutAlong Way Home | rock/pop punk
"Running from the Vancouver Island west coast scene, ‘Along Way Home’ comes with an uncompromising sound that sets them apart from the oversaturated pop-punk genre that most would place them in. Fusing together an extremely dynamic and compelling mix of driving music with eloquent vocals, along way home takes today’s captivating pop hooks and intermixes them with intensity and raw emotion. Playing distinctive music with identifiable messages, working next to a fan base that seems to be growing by the day, and playing shows with such bands as Hot Hot Heat, The Reason, and Ten Second Epic, these four show no reason for anyone to believe the hype is not real.
The group originally came together in mid 2002, and by the end of that year New York based international teen music magazine, “J-14” was hailing the band as, “ The Next Big Thing” by the December issue. After a small line up change, “along way home” was born in January of 2005. The four, having been in successful previous endeavours, began writing music, feeding off their new influences and creating something they erupt into when performing live. After months of show dates and building a budding fan base, ‘awh’ entered the studio for the first time together to contribute to a Vancouver scene compilation disc entitled, “Brodeo”; featuring Vancouver- hometown friends, “daggermouth” and “drakes”. Promotional show dates, and “Battle of the Band’s”, followed the c.d.’s release, which landed the group their first provincial radio interview and single debut in mid 2005. With a song on the radio, and a c.d. in hand, ’awh’ set out independently, and successfully, toured British Columbia and the state of Washington in January 2006.
After coming back home from their tour, the group felt like their was such a positive response towards their music and live set, that they felt recording a full length album would be necessary to show everyone that their a lot more than three songs on a comp disc. The guys drove back to ‘The Hive Studio’ in Vancouver to record their first full length, “something beautiful” in May of 2006. Seven brand new songs, all on their own disc. Not two months went by, and ‘awh’ was back in the same New York teen music magazine “J-14”, stating that “this band is definitely buzz-worthy…get the album.” With the magazine promoting the new album, people still talking about the previous comp disc, and of the successful touring, these four decided they would do it all over again. But this time, bigger. It was one week after the magazine hit shelves promoting ‘along way home’s debut album, that the guys departed on a tour that would take them across British Columbia, Alberta, and into Saskatchewan in the course of over a 3 week span.
Almost a month passes before the four returned back to their hometown, only to realize the tour’s feedback had been far more positive than any previous tour dates, or ever expected. While away, the online plays on their ‘Myspace” page had increased over 10, 000, street team/friend members had augmented by 1000 members, and the emails from fans across the country were piled into over 70 separate storage pages. Each letter filled with inspiring comments, and a consistent desire to hear more from the band. After responding to fans and their questions, ‘awh’ decided that they may need to begin looking for some outside help in scheduling future band events and tours. Previously all tours and shows had been put together and organized by the band solely, responsibly keeping all band business under their supervision. But as the word spread about the band, they understood quickly that outside management may be a way to still keep in touch with their fans, and have the time to create more of the music that has captured their attention." - Ryan Crane / merch salesmen/friend
